Thomas Jefferson Edwards, born on 17 February 1922 in Richmond, Virginia, was an
American singer and songwriter who recorded under the name Tommy Edwards. In the
1940s, he hosted his own radio show in Richmond. His early success as a
songwriter came with "That Chick's Too Young to Fry", a hit for Louis Jordan in
1946. He began recording for MGM Records in 1949 and moved to New York City in
