Sailcat was an American rock band formed in 1971 near Decatur, Alabama. The
group was founded by John D. Wyker and Court Pickett, both veterans of the local
music scene. Sailcat's breakthrough came with a demo tape that included
"Motorcycle Mama", which led to a recording contract with Elektra Records. Their
debut album Motorcycle Mama was released in 1972, featuring the hit single
"Motorcycle Mama" which peaked at Number 12 on the Billboard singles chart and
reached Number 38 on the albums chart. The band's success included appearances
