American guitarist, composer and producer best known as a founding member of
R.E.M., Peter Buck was born on December 6, 1956 in Berkeley, California. He grew
up in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Roswell (Georgia), then Atlanta, where he
attended university, continuing his studies in Athens. As a student at the
University of Georgia and a salesman at Wuxtry Records, he met Michael Stipe,
with whom he founded the group R.E.M., completed by Mike Mills and Bill Berry.
