Born Misa Saeki on 16 February 1975 in the Higashiyodogawa-ku district of Osaka,
the Japanese rock singer known professionally as Nanase Aikawa developed an
interest in music and singing during her time at school, and took part in
competitions that ultimately led to an audition with Sony Music aged 15.
Although she failed to secure a contract, she did catch the attention of
hit-making Japanese composer and producer Tetsurō Oda, who later guided her
towards her first single, “Yume Miru Shoujo ja Irarenai,” released in 1995 when
