Lo Fidelity Allstars were formed in Leeds in 1996 by a collective of musicians
from Northern England, including Phil Ward, Andy Dickinson, Martin Whiteman, Del
Vegas, Johnny Machin, and Dale Maloney, who later relocated to London and then
Brighton, signing with Skint Records. Their debut Disco Machine Gun (EP, 1997)
introduced a genre‑crossing sound that blended big beat, house, trip hop, and
drum and bass, featuring lo‑fi production and distinctive funk bass lines. The
