Jimmy Clanton, born 2 September 1938 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was an American
singer known for his contributions to swamp pop and R&B music. He formed his
first band, the Rockets, while attending high school in 1956, and their
breakthrough came with "Just a Dream", released on Ace Records in 1958 and
reaching number four on the Billboard chart. This success led to appearances on
