Best known as an actor and comedian, Dudley Moore was also a jazz pianist and
composer who led his own trio from 1961 until his death. Born in Charing Cross,
London, on April 19, 1935, he studied organ and piano at Magdalen College,
Oxford. He developed a piano style inspired by Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson and
George Shearing, combining virtuosity, swing and a refined sense of melody. In
