Daniel Alexander Calderón Pulgarín, born on August 6, 1984 in Medellín and son
of famed producer Iván Calderón, grew up immersed in vallenato music, recording
his first song, “Obsesión,” at age four. He officially joined his father’s
ensemble, later renamed Daniel Calderón y Los Gigantes del Vallenato, launching
his solo career with the 2003 album Los Gigantes son los Gigantes, followed by
Aire Fresco (2005), Así Somos (2007)—featuring hits like “Quién Eres Tú,”
“Aventura,” and “Duele”—and Vía Libre (2009) with acclaimed songs such as “Qué
Le Diré al Corazón.” His 2011 release Al...
