Cero39 is the alter ego of Colombian producer Mauricio Álvarez (a.k.a. Fredo),
whose project emerged in 2012 after years of absorbing Caribbean sounds during
travels through Barranquilla and along the Magdalena River. His debut album
Móntate en el Viaje! (2012) fused cumbia, dembow, reggae-dub, and experimental
electronics in a style critics described as "Monster Cumbia" or "Cyborg Tropical
Bass". He followed it with the EP Vaciles Casuales (2013), exploring minimalist,
