Ricardo Valdez Valentine, who goes by the name 6lack, is an American hip-hop and
R&B performer who was born in Baltimore and grew up in Atlanta where as a
teenager he joined in rap battles with other hip-hop performers such as Young
Thug. He released tracks via the Internet and spent time with the Atlanta-based
Spillage Village music collective. He toured with Canadian R&B singer The
Weeknd, collaborated with other performers such as J. Cole, Khalid, Ty Dolla
